Editor review
Mirror Gully is a tight side-scrolling platformer with forty hand-built levels. Death animation lasts under a second, respawn keeps level state, and the retry friction stays low across the whole run. The design is built around fast iteration, and the level pacing respects that framing.
The level design is the strongest part. Each level introduces one new pattern, lets you fail at it three or four times, then asks you to apply it under pressure. The pattern-introduce-then-apply structure is consistent across all forty levels and the curve never feels arbitrary.
Played over a long weekend and a couple of Newcastle Newcastle Metro morning rides. Each level fits a commute-length session. Auto-save preserves chapter progress and the chapter-select unlocks any chapter you have visited.
What I want to flag is the controls. The keyboard controls feel right; the touch controls add input lag that hurts at the higher tiers. Stick to keyboard if you have the option. Four-and-a-half stars overall.
